Don't Forget To Tip!

People think they have their whole budget down, but don't forget about the people helping you out. Here is a short list of some of the people who might be helping out in your wedding and how much gratuity they should get.

  • Catering Staff, 15 to 20 percent of the catering bill. Splitting it up amongst the catering manager, chefs, and waiters.

  • Musicians and DJ's, Most don't expect to be tipped but are presently surprised when they are. About $20 per musician and $25 for a DJ.

  • Stylist's and Make up Artists, They should be tipped about 15% just like a normal appointment. If anyone extra helps out with washing or shampooing give $3 to $5 each.

  • Photographers, Videographers, Florists, and Wedding Coordinators, Tipping for these people isn't necessary either, but if you wish to it's about $30-50 for photographers, videographers, and florists. And about $50-100 for wedding coordinators.

  • Site Staff, Pay coat checkers $1-2 per guest, for them to share, powder room attendants, .50-$1 per guest to share, and $1-1.50 per car for parking manager to split with the valets.

  • Seamstress, Delivery People, and Drivers, The people delivering flowers and cake should receive $3-$5 each. If limo tip isn't included in your bill, pay 15-20%. For seamstress's a cash tip is not expected but you can always send a photo of you in your dress!

The Things That Should Be On Your Gift Registry!

  1. Plates! Whether they are fancy china or colorful ceramic you should keep these on your list.

  2. Beautiful Things! You don't always have to ask for the practical stuff. Throw some decor items in there to decorate your new home with.

  3. A Cookbook! If you already know how to cook, ask for kitchen stuff instead. But if you feel like you could learn more, you should always have a quality cookbook on hand.

  4. Sheets! Sheets can sometimes be overpriced and you have a hard time buying them for yourself. But they can make an excellent necessary wedding gift!

  5. Serving Pieces! Don't forget about salad bowls and gravy boats! People tend to forget about those sort of things when they shop for themselves.

  6. Table Linens! Either a nice table cloth or nice place mats multiple kinds are great to have on hand.

  7. Towels! Everyone either has too many bad ones, or too little good ones. If someone is going to get you towels for your wedding gift you better believe they will probably be nicer ones.

  8. Glassware! Even if you already have a bunch, it won't hurt to get a nice new set.

  9. Cutlery! Knifes are always an awesome thing to collect in the kitchen. Imagine all the different ones you would get from guests!

  10. Curtains! It's always nice to have decent curtains hanging around.

How To Secretly Measure Your Boyfriends or Fiances Ring Size

Need to find out his ring size but not sure how?

If he is a heavy sleeper, tie a small string around his finger and measure it. Or you can discreetly or playfully put your hand on his and compare his finger to yours and try to remember how much bigger it was for the ring store.
If he already wears a ring, try to snag it whenever he takes it off (shower, sleep, etc) and press it in to a bar of soap for an impression of it. Take it to the ring store and they should be able to tell the size of it by that!

What Type Of Reception Will You Have?

The great thing about the modern times, is there are so many new ideas for weddings that stray away from traditional..but not too far. There are different types of receptions you can have to change it up, fit your schedule, and save you money. You don't have to have the standard dinner and drinks reception. Maybe there is a different kind you want?

A Breakfast or Brunch Reception
Are you having a sun rise wedding? Or just want to get going in the morning and have fun the rest of the day? You can have your ceremony and then have breakfast/ brunch options to eat at the reception. Everyone loves that kind of food so you can't go wrong. Plus there are plenty of types of food that fits in to this category.

A Lunch Reception
Maybe you want to get married earlier in the day but still have plenty of time in the morning to get ready? Maybe having a lunch reception might be a better choice. There are still plenty of food options, and you don't need to have "fancy" AKA more expensive food at this type of reception because its lunch.

Afternoon Tea
Everyone wants to go to a fancy tea party. This could be your chance to host it! Have lots of tea options and small sandwiches and finger foods. This would add a certain class to your wedding that your guests will enjoy and remember. Plus, this would be a money saver on alcohol since people wouldn't drink as much of it.

Champagne and Cake Reception
This is probably the least expensive. Just make sure there is plenty of champagne and you will definitely get your cake eaten! You will save money on all the different types of food. However, you might not like this reception as much if you are planning on partying all night long.

Cocktail Party
This is great for small venues and close adult friends to mingle and have fun more like at a party. You could save money by not buying food, and spending it on a bartender and alcohol.

Perhaps these ideas might have swayed your opinion of receptions!

Wedding Trends For 2014!

Every year there is always a fad for whatever it may be. Weddings are a HUGE part of that. There is always something new to try or where. Here are some of the new things trending for weddings in 2014!

Pinks, Nudes, and Peaches!
For a while it might have been all about the vibrant colors when it comes to bridesmaids dresses, but lighter colors are coming back in style! Not the ugly pinks but some new soft pinks that add a gentle touch to the wedding.

Fancy Romance!
Whites and creams combined with golds and metallics are brining out a very formal romantic feel to the decor, that is very IN right now.

Bold stripes, florals and trellis-patterns are sweeping weddings all over.

Candle Light!
Having a candelabra or a beautiful lit center piece adds to the romantic feel that brides this year are all over.

Wedding Make Up DON'TS!

A little while ago I did a post for wedding make up DO'S. It's now time for the DON'TS.  Make up is an easy thing to over do, so you always have to be careful.

  1. Don't have your make up done under fluorescent lighting. Always make sure you test to see what your make up will look like in natural light.

     2. Don't let your make up artist take over your look. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of having someone do your make up for you and easy to just take whatever suggestions they throw at you but be careful. You don't want to walk down the aisle looking like someone completely different to your special man. It's best to have a more polished version of how you naturally look.

     3. Don't plaster it on! It's a myth that you have to have a ton of make up on for photographs. In fact since most pictures are taken outside, your make up will look much more obvious. For flash photography, you just need light fine powders, not a ton of makeup.

     4. Don't go for something super trendy. You DO have to keep these photos way longer than that trend would last, so it's best to go with something more classic and natural.

     5. Don't be scared of going brighter on your lipstick. Browns, neutrals, and beiges get washed out in photographs. So choose a brighter color like a light pink or rose.

    6. Don't just put make up on your face. Make sure to match it to your neck and shoulders depending on the dress. You don't want your face being a different shade than the rest of you.

   7. Don't go too dark on your eyes. Use a soft color on the lids, but a dark color or a smokey eye will  detract from the eyes themselves.

   8. Don't go too glossy or too matte for your wedding lipstick. Stick with a statin-y finish that won't dry or ware off.
